The children were introduced to the book "Mrs. Wishy-Washy" by Joy Cowley. It was a rather simple story but we were able to draw out quite a few learning points from the story. I have found a video clip of the story Mrs. Wishy Washy. If you want to have a glimpse of the story, you can take a look at the clip. For the whole of next week, we will be learning from Mrs. Wishy Washy. Some of the learning points are - Pronoun (He and She), Phonics (/w/ sound), Action verbs (paddled, rolled, jumped etc) and Punctuation (opened and closed inverted commas)
Take note of the words in the story. Can your child pronounce them? Does your child know these words ? Parents may want to revise the words with the children at home (^_^)b
In addition, one of the teachers also borrowed another Mrs. Wishy-Washy book for the children. "Mrs. Wishy Washy's Christmas". I read it to 1G. They love the story! To test your child's comprehension skill, you can get your child to summarise the story to you.
The children will also get to dramatise the story next week. This will help them in brushing up their public speaking skills. There are lots of things we can do with this story! Let's hope the children will be as excited as I am! (^_^)
